Chanel Jenae Answers YOUR Questions!

You asked, Chanel answered!

We’ve taken some of the questions you sent in via social media and had our glowstress, ARCONA Owner & Celebrity Esthetician, Chanel Jenae lend her expertise.

How do I keep my delicate eye area hydrated? I always suggest incorporating a rich eye cream. Our Eye Dew Plus is rich in ceramides, cholesterol and lipids which replenish, hydrate and nourish the delicate skin around the eye area. During the day apply a Vitamin C serum such as our Youth Serum to the orbital bone area followed by your eye cream/serum. Vitamin C helps to brighten the appearance of the skin, and acts a powerful antioxidant. Follow with SPF (my preference is zinc and titanium based physical screen like our Reozone SPF 40. These simple steps can really help with hydration around the eye area and protect the skin.

Is at-home facial massage a good idea/your thoughts? I always suggest leaving facial massage to the experts (esthetician), and having an expert guide and teach you massage movements that you can do at home. This way you are working in the right direction to fully benefit from the incredible benefits that facial massage provides. Also, learning Gua Sha at home is great, too.

How do I begin to incorporate ARCONA into my routine, if I’m currently using another brand? I would suggest having a consultation with me so I can learn exactly which products you are currently using, your skin type, concerns and help you in choosing the right product as you finish each of your current ones. We want to be careful that actives aren’t being duplicated so there is no potential contraindications.

Top ARCONA products to fight sun damage? Vitamin C  serum that is calibrated at the appropriate pH to really benefit the skin (ARCONA Youth Serum which is a 20% L-Ascorbic Acid Serum), SPF every single day without fail, and retinol in the PM which is the gold standard (ARCONA Advanced A Serum) for helping to address the visible signs of aging and sun damaged skin. Those three simple steps will make a world of difference in the appearance of aging skin caused by the sun.

How to fix redness/blotchiness caused by sun damage? I would a Gentle Cleanser such as (ARCONA Four O’Clock Flower Cleansing Cream) a Vitamin C  serum that is calibrated at the appropriate pH to really benefit the skin (ARCONA Youth Serum which is a 20% L-Ascorbic Acid Serum), SPF every single day without fail, and retinol which is the gold standard (ARCONA Advanced A Serum) for helping to address the visible signs of aging and sun damaged skin. I would recommend a facial oil to replenish, hydrate and brighten the appearance of the skin (ARCONA Cerise + C Skin Barrier Repair Oil)  is a great one.

How to combat dry/flaky skin? Our goal is to bring your skin into homeostasis by gently dissolving the dry flaky skin and replenishing your moisture balance.  I would suggest incorporating a lactic and glycolic acid resurfacing serum (ARCONA Gentle Solution)  in the PM, before your moisturizer twice a week. In the AM I would cleanse/exfoliate with an enzymatic gommage (ARCONA Cranberry Gommage). This will help to dissolve flaky skin, brighten, and allow serums, moisturizers and facial oils to penetrate the skin better.

Is the only way to get rid of acne scars through facials/procedures? I would like to talk with you further to determine if they are discolorations or surface irregularities in the skin such as pockmarks. We can do a virtual consultation if you are interested, and I am confident I can suggest some things to improve the overall appearance of your skin.

What are  a few good products if I have more dry/sensitive/aging skin but still get breakouts?  I would suggest a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, enzymatic exfoliant,  spot treatment, and a purifying mud mask that won’t strip or dehydrate your skin.  (ARCONA Four O’Clock Flower Gentle Cleansing Cream, Four O’Clock Flower Skin Soothing Daily Hydator, Reozone Daily SPF 40, Berry Gel Goomage, Am Blemish Lotion, and Magic Black Ice Mask) are all great options. I would use these for a month, and then can we re-evaluate your skin, and determine if we want to incorporate an antioxidant serum and retinol serum into your skin regimen.
