Quarantine-Approved Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is going to be a little bit different this year… Lots of us are used to celebrating the special women in our lives with brunch outing, a spa day, or perhaps a family dinner. Considering the new stay at home protocols, we have some fun ideas you can use this year to reconnect with mom, or any special person you’d like to celebrate:

  • Plan a virtual brunch or happy hour! Apps like HouseParty, Zoom or FaceTime are a great way to get in some socially responsible bonding with your family while maintaining physical distance. We love the opportunity to do a little extra in these moments, so perhaps share a recipe for a cocktail (or mocktail) you can each make from home, try a delivery meal together, or chat while doing your DIY spa treatments. Anything that feels unique and that you can each do from home will make this call extra special.
  • Send food via Postmates, Instacart or order non-contact delivery from your favorite local eatery. Dining out is a memory for now, but getting delivery and enjoying a restaurant quality meal without a kitchen full of dirty dishes will make anyone feel like Queen for a day (or even an hour; we’re not keeping track)!
  • Plan a drive by “We Love Mom” parade! If you have a few family members in town you can caravan past mom’s house to honk, wave, or play her favorite song from the comfort of your car. This is a fun way to show her how special she is and gives you a chance to see her in person while maintaining the necessary physical distance. We have seen cars decked out with balloons, window paint, and handmade signs – all great ways that make this feel like a little party on wheels!

Remember that whatever you do, taking some time to show Mom you care can lift the weight of isolation, while lifting Mom’s spirits as well. Let spread some love and cheer to all the lovely ladies in our lives this May 10th!
